In other words, artistic design not only serves the human group through creation and realization of the practicality of the object, but also must give people an aesthetic enjoyment. To some extent, it expresses the emotion of a class of people. It is not only the designer who realizes the self. The only way to value. The solace function of artistic design is a carrier that embodies the social value and shoulders the comfort and comfort that should be possessed in the design field. On the one hand, people purify and liberate the mind while enjoying the artistic design results; relieve physical and psychological pressure; soothe the irritability of emotions; relieve tiredness and perception. On the other hand, artistic design uses external functions (forms) that adapt to human psychology and physiology to achieve this goal (content). Therefore, the solace function is actually a rational factor that the content and form strives to achieve in the process of unification. Its task is to regulate in the fast-paced social production, exchange, distribution, and consumption. Interpersonal relations guide the erection of more correct concepts of life consumption, and expand and sublime the human soul, so that people experience the simultaneous development of spiritual and cultural fields while experiencing the fruits of material production development, and gradually reach the full development of mankind, thus embodying human self-worth. It also serves the society and improves the overall quality of social development.
The purpose of art design determines its functionality, but these goals ultimately come from human needs. People's needs are multi-level, both material and spiritual, so the concept of function should also be multi-level. The designer's job is to translate people's needs into specific product function goals. In the development of today's era, although the material needs of human beings are complex and numerous, the functional satisfaction of such requirements is relatively easy to implement, intuitive and even visible, and easy to measure. However, the growing spiritual needs in the provocative and anxious environment are not very intuitive and can be manipulated. Satisfying this need is achieved with a solace function based on temperament or charm contained in the design work. As Mr. Li Zehou once said, “...there is a certain limit to the needs of food, clothing, clothing, and other materials. It is easier to satisfy, but the pursuit of the spirit is not the same. It is often infinite, it is difficult to solve, and it is difficult to satisfy. "(8) Therefore, artistic design must take into account the spiritual content of its products while creating. When the ethos or charisma embodied in the artistic design seeks resonance in the spiritual pursuit of the target market, the solace function of artistic design is realized. This actually follows the principle of "heterogeneous isomorphism" proposed by the Gestalt Psychology faction. In other words, when the psychological feelings of the target groups targeted in the production, distribution, exchange, and consumption of art and design work can be released in the art works of that or that type, or in other words, the art design works When the target group obtained the simplest, most regulated, and most symmetrical structure in terms of psychological and emotional aspects, the art design comforted the target market and made it mentally satisfying. After all, this is a psychological balance. For various reasons mentioned above, human beings have lost more or less a kind of inner balance mechanism in the development of modern society. However, artistic design can use various means to balance people's internal mechanisms and make them feel comfortable in spirit. From this point of view, the solace of artistic design is still subordinate to the functional utility. It is the embodiment of its practical function in spirit, that is, because it can meet the spiritual needs of human beings, it should be useful.
However, this solace of artistic design must ultimately be demonstrated through material means. This involves the diversification of ways of expression. As Mr. Li Zehou thought: “The truth is a whole that is made up of many aspects. Therefore, we can approach it from different perspectives, different approaches, different issues, different requirements...†(9) In this sense, The forms of comfort function can be varied, which further enriches the art and design work, improves its quality and quantity from multiple angles, and satisfies people's spiritual and material needs. In addition, Maslow once divided the basic needs of people into five kinds: physical, safe, loving, respectful and self-fulfilling needs. The solace function of the design can be realized gradually and profoundly according to these five demands through various material means, embodying the functional goals in different phases. In this sense, the object of consolation is different, the contents required are different, and ultimately they lead to different ways of expression. This also stipulates the various forms of consolation function in a certain sense.
However, the emphasis on diversity does not equal isolation and unity. While ensuring that the expression is composed of multiple vocabularies, it is also necessary to unify the character of the design work to the spirit of comforting and enlightening the target group. No design can obtain the means to be flattering to diversity at the expense of this principle. If the study is done at the end of the term, and abstraction from the purpose of its consolation function is to talk about diversity, then the result can only make the design work not resonate, can not realize its social value, and only become a designer's individual performance product.
To sum up, the art design should find a way to reasonably resolve the contradiction between the development of science and technology and cultural psychology in modern society, realize its own multiple value structure, and serve the society. However, the solace of artistic design has not yet been fully realized. This cannot but be said to be one of the difficulties faced by the development of art design. Because, in order to achieve solace function, we must first understand the social issues, and study various psychology, color psychology, ergonomics and other complex disciplines. Only by starting from these aspects can it be possible to reflect in a general sense the soothing effect of art and design on the target market. If we want to grasp the essence of comfort function more deeply, we should also study history, philosophy, folklore and so on. In a sense, these disciplines can make people resonate in their works. However, this is not a simple and simple research activity, but a long-term process in which several generations work together and constantly explore. Therefore, the problems involved in the solace function of artistic design are very extensive. It cannot be completely explained by one or two sentences.
