A case of troubleshooting plate oxidation

The Komori four-color machine at a printing company in Xinhui, Guangdong, failed. The third group of printing plates broke after a few thousand prints. After dealing with the local masters, the problem still exists. Field observation revealed that the plate was indeed oxidized and the oxidized part was irregularly hairy. After inquiring, the method that several masters deal with is to adjust the printing pressure, wash the ink roller ink fountain, adjust the ink roller pressure and so on. Obviously, if the plate is worn out because of paper or paper dust, this method should solve the problem. After careful examination, it was found that the same problem existed in the other three color groups, which was highlighted by the fact that the magenta version of the third group was the main tone. From the phenomenon of depilation and deinking of the printed paper and the easy emulsification of the ink, the problem is probably due to the deterioration of the printing plate caused by deterioration of the fountain solution. After replacing the fountain solution and the water roller sleeve, the problem is solved. Later, several other types of problems were encountered at other plants, which can be solved by this method.

Significance: Wash the fountain and ink fountain at least once a week. The water roller should also be cleaned frequently. In addition, some papers with a large difference in acid-base strength between paper and ink fountains will also degrade the fountain solution and eventually cause ink emulsification.
