At present, new products emerge in the coffee market, exotic flavors continue to emerge, and a variety of beautiful packaging is also dazzling. This led Loblaw Ltd. of Brampton, Ontario, Canada to recreate its "presidential" coffee packaging, making it renewed in a more innovative and luxurious image. This unusual vacuum ziplock made by Genpak LP won the Gold Award for Printing Achievement.
Loblaws is the largest food distributor in Canada and has operations all over the country. This bag was used in the fall of 2005. Genpak's business manager, Bill, said, “Loblaws was used for cans when we showed this design. We all believe that we can make this visually-impressive package stand out on the shelves.
“This superb packaging has excited designers; buyers are also satisfied with the low cost of product launch. We print all the inventory units side by side, and the printing supervisors are delighted with the increase in output. At the same time, the waste generated is also significant. Reduced to achieve a win-win result."
This 250-gram vertical ziplock bag is mainly used for fragrant Costa Rican coffee with a clip-tight opening.
Costa Rica coffee packaging is just one of Loblaw's finely printed bags. The design of the series is full of artistic or tropical style, or complex and changeable. Coffee flavors include French vanilla, Swiss almond chocolate, aromatic decaffeinated vanilla hazelnuts, finely ground Colombian premium coffee, Irish cream and hazelnut butter.
Genpak produces materials for the packaging at its facility in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. This three-layer glue/extruded composite consists of polyester/polyethylene/foil. An eight-color flexo press produced by Fischer+Krecke was used for reverse printing at a printing speed of 300 m/min. The pattern of Costa Rican coffee packaging is beautifully painted and eye-catching. Above is a yellow-green parrot, the background color gradually darkens. The dazzling packaging design is Opaltone, an Opaltone company. Enpak said that the software can use eight identical colors to print 12 different coffee packages simultaneously. Reilly said that Opaltone overcomes the difference in saturation between the cyan/magenta/yellow inks, producing a greater optical contrast ratio, richer colors, and brighter colors.
“Using Opaltone for production, we eliminate the need for ink washing and color matching, which saves a lot of time. At the same time, if we wash the color, it will produce a lot of ink and solvent waste, and it will cause harm to the environment. Scrubbing is therefore more environmentally friendly. It can reduce the use of printed materials and can reduce ink usage and waste by 30%. This, of course, depends on the job."
