According to a survey of 7,076 consumer surveys received by a survey agency named YouGov (in China), 4857 people said that those were placed on shelves and stored in containers. The displayed foods and fresh fruits and vegetables are more likely to stimulate their desire to purchase. The questionnaire also surveyed the popularity of plastic containers and paper containers. The results showed that among the 4857 people, 68% prefer paper packaging, and 32% prefer plastic packaging.
These consumers are also asked: If these fresh foods are the same in terms of both price and quality, but when they are used in paper packaging and plastic packaging, which one are they more willing to choose? Among the people surveyed, 41% said that they do not care about the packaging of the total material used by the product, and some people also said that they do not understand the packaging. But of the remaining 59% of respondents, 85% said they are more willing to buy paper-wrapped goods.
The survey was conducted in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain. This result is consistent with the results of a similar survey conducted by a survey agency in the United Kingdom in 2014. In the United Kingdom’s survey report, 1,114 consumers were asked which type of packaging material would affect their purchase decision. 93% of consumers chose paper packaging.
Industry insiders believe that this survey report further proves that corrugated packaging is well-satisfied with the new demands of European consumers for easy-to-use, eye-catching and sustainable product packaging. Paper corrugated packaging is still the most popular form of packaging in Europe. The results of the survey prove once again that when fresh fruits and vegetables are stored in paper and plastic containers and placed on shelves, consumers are more willing to purchase paper-packaged goods than plastic packaging.
