Altun Mountain Overview

The south of the Altun Mountains connects the Tibetan Plateau to the north, the southern and northern boundaries are between the Qaidam Basin and the Tarim Basin, and the east and west connect with the Qilian Mountains and the Kunlun Mountain. The mountains range from about 730 km east to west and 60 to 100 km wide from north to south. SWW— NEE, similar to the east-west direction, has an area of F=4.5×10 4 KM 2 , and the mountains are high on both ends of the east and west, and the middle part is lower (in the range of 4000M-4200M). Sections above 5000m above sea level have modern glaciers.

The eastern peak of the Altun Mountains is 5798m above sea level. It is the highest mountain in the eastern Altun Mountains. The main peak and its north and south sides of the ridgeline are Qinghai and Gansu provinces. Therefore, the Altun Mountains are two provincial boundaries. The main peak of the Altun Mountains is about 110km from the Ganqing Highway to the east of the Jinshankou, which is the boundary between the Altun Mountains and the Qilian Mountains.
The northern slopes of the eastern part of the mountain range are located on the south bank of the Lower Shule River, and the south slope is near the Sugan Lake. The relative height difference between the north and the south is about 3000M and 4800M, respectively. The main peak rises from the sky and goes into the sky. It lies on the deep fault line of the Altun Mountains. This is directly related to the heightening of the peak area.

From south to north, there are three mountain valleys and two valleys in the peak area. The topography is as follows:

The height of the peaks in the main area of the south column is between 5200M and 5798M. The main peak is located at the back wall of the junction of two snow basins on the 10# glacier on the south side of the Samosakou Gully. On the back wall of the 10# glacial snow basin, another peak of 5728M is opposite to the main peak on the east side. The distance between them is 1200M, and the relative height difference is only 70M. The main peak area distributes 31 modern glaciers on both sides of the ridge line. The glaciers have an area of 33.78km2. There are 20 glaciers on the north slope and 25.26km2 of glaciers. There are 17 Samosak gully glacier and glacier area of 19.28KM2, including 10# glacier (see Table 1).

From Table 1, it can be seen that the 10# glacier is the largest glacier in the area, with an area of 4.08KM2; glaciers of 3.8KM in length; ice reserves of 2.652X108M3; glaciers at an elevation of 4,520M, about 300m above the Samosake Valley; glaciers The snow line is at an altitude of 4840M. The vertical elevation difference between the main peak and the Samutsak Valley (the valley refers to the #10 glacial estuary) is 1560M.

The Samsak Valley is high in the east and low in the west, with an elevation of 4200-4400m. It is a river formation area. It crosses into the Qingshi ditch after crossing the middle of the central column of the central column, and is the source of Qingshigou.

The peaks of the mountains in the middle range between 4700-5536M. The mountains were cut and broken, 12 glaciers were developed on the north slope, and there was only a small glacier with an area of 0.05 KM2 on the southern slope. The total area of mountain glaciers in the column is 8.23 KM2. The largest glacier is the Qiligou glaciers with an area of 2.17 KM2 and a length of 2.1 KM. The average elevation of the glacier is 4660M. The relative height between the middle of the mountains and the Sasak Valley is about 1000M.

Samuthabutala Valley, between 3500-4200M above sea level. The west part of the valley (Qingshigou) is wider and has lower elevations. There are five watersheds between 4000-4200M extending to the east. From the satellite image map, it can be seen that the location of the valley is the deep fault line of the Altun Mountains.
The northern column of the mountainous area (Qingshigou area) has a significantly reduced topography and scattered terrain. The height of the mountain peak is between 3,500 and 4,849 M. There is no modern glacier distribution. The mountainous area is the outer mountain of the Altun Mountains and gradually enters the foothills. It eventually disappears. Lower Shule River.
