Beijing develops coatings for radioactive solid steel steel packaging containers

The coating for radioactive solid waste steel packaging containers jointly developed by Beijing University of Chemical Technology and the Beijing Core Engineering Research and Design Institute was successfully launched in February 2004.
This product is a two-component epoxy resin coating whose base material is bisphenol A epoxy resin. It not only has excellent adhesion and chemical resistance to steel vessels, particularly alkali resistance, but also has good thermal stability, and it has outstanding resistance to irradiation and can easily remove radioactive waste. The curing agent for the paint is modified aromatic amine, which has not only low toxicity, small viscosity, good compatibility, but also has the advantages of moderate curing speed and the like. At the same time, due to its aromatic ring structure, the radiation resistance and heat resistance of the coating are improved.
The disposal of radioactive solid waste is of great concern to the industry and the public. It is also technically demanding. The availability of this coating will facilitate the improvement of disposal technology measures.
