At present, Asahi Breweries has established a production line for beer PET bottles at its Fukushima factory, and plans to commercialize this new R&D result during the year.
According to reports, the newly developed PET bottle has a glass layer of silicon oxide film on the inner side, with a thickness of about 10 nanometers (billionths of a meter), which increases oxygen barrier properties by about 20 times. The barrier property of gas is increased by about 4 times. The lid of this bottle uses an oxygen-absorbing resin material, and the sides and bottom of the bottle are shaded so that light from the sides and bottom of the bottle can be largely blocked. In addition, this type of beer bottle meets the conditions for resource recycling and can be used in a recycling system for used products.
