The key project of the 863 Program undertaken by the Institute of Remote Sensing Application of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, "Remote Sensing Monitoring Technology for Polar Ice Sheet Ice Shelf Changes", made important progress, and passed the acceptance in Shanghai recently.
The data, algorithms and products formed by the subject in the remote sensing monitoring of polar ice sheets and ice shelves will become the basis for the investigation and scientific research of polar resources in China. The relevant algorithms have laid a solid foundation for the subsequent development of satellite remote sensing products. At the same time, the subject also developed the key technology of broadband coherent polar ice thickness measurement radar system, developed China's first vehicle-based polar ice thickness detection radar system based on broadband coherent technology, and successfully implemented two Antarctic inland surveys, obtaining depth exceeding The ice thickness data of 2000m has made China one of the few countries in the world with this polar detection equipment.
The completion of the project provides data, methods, technologies and equipment support for China to carry out follow-up large-scale North-South Arctic scientific investigations, resource exploration, etc. The results are of great significance for improving the remote sensing monitoring capabilities of China's polar ice sheets and ice shelves.
