In February 2004, the US company "Mountain Security Research" (MSR) introduced the MIOX portable water purifier. By adding salt and charging the battery, toxic substances can be rendered harmless.
This water purifier is an amazing 3.5-oz. tool with the size of the "magic marker" invented by Krumley. It uses water, salt, and batteries to purify drinking water, which is powerful enough to detoxify the most toxic bacteria, pathogens, and chemicals.
The purifier is easy to operate: 1. Add a few drops of water to the purifier (with a piece of salt), shake the purifier, and press a button. 2. Wait for power from a pair of batteries to break down the salt solution into various components: sodium, chlorine, and ozone. 3. Pour mixed oxidizer solution into unpurified water. In less than one hour (4 hours if you suspect that water contains Cryptosporidium), you can safely drink it. Each application of a MIOX agent purifies up to 1 gallon of water.
The product was field tested by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and was small enough to be packed into backpacks for family camping or travel abroad. It sells for $130.
