Igus's self-aligning "igubal" bearing range is made entirely of engineering plastics. Now, this series of products has added two new mini-products and has begun mass production. Both new products are lightweight, compact, easy to install and adapt to all eccentric features.
In today's bearing technology, these mechanical components made of high-performance engineering plastics blends are being increasingly used in logistics, laboratory and fixture components. The main reason for this trend is that the characteristics of this material allow these bearings to be used in very dirty and harsh environments. They can be completely maintenance-free, without any seal even in severely contaminated environments, in addition to liquids and even chemicals. There is no corrosion in the reagents.
New type sliding bearing: wall thickness is halved
The new KGLM Mini bearing, a highly engineered engineering plastic bushing developed and manufactured by igus, has been reduced by half its wall thickness (22 mm shaft diameter) compared to the previous model. The wall thickness of this new sliding bearing is only 3 mm, so it requires only a small installation space. Due to the use of a two-piece structure consisting of only a base and a spherical ball cap, this sliding bearing can absorb vibrations better than metal-made products. When the shaft rotates and vibrates, it can also play a role in silencing.
Dislocation compensation
The base is made of a polymer "igumid G" material that is particularly strong and reinforced. This self-aligning pedestal compensates for angular misalignment. Through the internal free movement, spherical ball cap can effectively compensate for misalignment. The ball cap is made of "iglidur W300" material, which gives a minimum coefficient of friction between the shaft and the ball cap.
New base bearing: high radial elasticity
For high radial loads, igus also developed a new mini-base bearing (8 mm shaft diameter: radial load 1600 N). This self-aligning bearing can also withstand high loads while weighing only 30% of the previous old product. This robust mini bearing offers size options of 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm. The base bearing can be fixed in the corresponding position from below by hexagon socket bolts or M3 machine screws.
